Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Smoke from Clover Fire

Looking to the north from my home in Inyokern you can see this big plume of smoke - probably from Clover Fire. Inciweb on this one hasn't been updated for a day, but looks like the fire might have grown.



Sierra are on the left, the low point on the horizon is near Little Lake, and on the right is the Coso range.

Too bad it's smoke from a fire destroying wilderness that made that awesome cloud. We noticied a small plume of smoke last Saturday 5/31 when we summited Whitney. Then yesterday driving home from Bishop the sky was so filled with smoke near Olancha Peak that it looked like storm clouds.

seems like there has been a fire in that area for the last two or three years.

as noted by some people on Whitney from the previous Saturday - we did not see any smoke in the morning - but by afternoon smoke was more noted. I think it found some fresh new fuel yesterday.
