Does anyone know about how long it takes to drive from Las Vegas to Lone Pine going through Death Valley? What I am looking for is actuals not estimates from Google. I don't always trust Google Maps estimated drive times, but perhaps the speed limit through DVNP is slow and they are not too far off?

I've taken between 4 and 5 hours by the DV route (I presume you mean the one that goes through Pahrump -- you can also go through Beatty). The DV police have been rather stringent about speed limits.

In 2004, when the DV roads were closed from flood damage, we went by Lida Pass.

I also did the DV crossing from Lone Pine in about 4 to 5 hours. Went through Furnace Creek and entered Pahrump on Belle Vista Road. This was July a couple of years ago, and it was 122 deg at Furnace Creek when we stopped for lunch - it was unbelievable how many European tourists were enjoying the sights at Death Valley.
