Rooms will sleep 4-8 people , options are you can reserve a room for your group or use as private room, rates are $20.00/ bed plus the taxes . Each room has a bath and shower, also we have 5 public showers on the first floor.
A large open area on the first floor is set aside for meeting and nightly talks.

We will post photos this week of the room layout and the interior of the building.
Thanks the Portal Crew

Wow! This is a great deal! We should all make an effort to make this place known, so it quickly succeeds!

Congratulations on finally finishing the Hostel, Doug. It has been a long time coming, and I am sure it will prove to be well worth the wait.

I hope people fill it to capacity soon.

Doug, you have come a long ways! I've seen your diligent, hard work and a bit of all the obstacles you had to overcome to get to your Grand Opening on July 12. Yes, I join with all the others in congratulating you, and I look forward to staying in the hostel the next time I come through Lone Pine.

Doug, Earlene, Doug, and Portal crew,

Wow! I'm sure you're all taking a big sigh of happy relief that this is now done and opening this weekend!!

I'll be anxious to see the place (and stay there, if it isn't fully booked already) when I'm out there in late September this year.

Well done! I'm simply amazed that you not only did this but do the Portal store, too! You have some kinda energy! But then being in the Whitney area is pretty energizing IMHO.

Congrats to all on a job well done!

Congrats on this new venture. Could you also post contact info. I am part of a group of 10 coming up in early August and would love to stay at the hostel.

Hi Doug,
This is great news. Congratulations on your accomplishment.

I guess I need to update the Orientation Notes to reflect the change. Is there an official name that I should reference or is "hostel" good enough? I guess I can link people to this thread for more information.

I just want to know when you're putting in the hot tub, or do we have to jump the fence at the Dow?

Congrats and see you in August!

If you're interested in a Lone Pine map change, the outdoor store "Elevation" is now located where Lone Pine Realty use to be. It's a nice place with friendly staff.
