Just as the storm was over Whitney, my son and I were summiting Langley...glad we weren't on Whitney.

Didn't want to wait and see if the clouds were going to over take Langley, so we began our scramble back down to our camp at Lake three, two hours later, we arrived at camp.

As planned, we began packing up, had a tuna sandwich, and was back on the trail heading for the Cottonwoods parking lot, and the drive home.... Our second summit to Langley was over.

3.5 hours later, we arrived at the car, and the rain started coming down....couldn't have timed it better. I thought of all the people that were just getting to the lakes, who we had passed on the trail, and those that were possibly coming down the summit....

We enjoyed the light show during the drive home....11 pm, we pulled into our driveway, tired, but still energized....

Hope all made it down safe....

Heading back next week to do Whitney.

Those that may be wondering...Old Army pass is very doable...a few snow fields, that were no problem with trecking poles...and could also be done with out poles.

My son Jack and i at the summit. Second time. We did Whitney and Langley last year.

Great picture! How old is Jack? He sounds like a mountaineer in the making.

Blackfishm, what a winning photo!

Congrats on another successful trip. These are life-time memories for your son, and from the smile on his face, the mountains are going to be a happy place for him in his older years.

That is so refreshing to see. Great shot of the 2 of you. That smile on your son speaks volumes. Enjoy the moments with him. Time passes so quickly. Keep yourself in shape and one day you can take a 3 generations picture on the summits of Langley/Whitney.

Lovin' the Cincinnati Reds cap. We here in the flatlands envy you. Hope to be there with my son in the not-to-distant future.
