We gathered at the Seasons Restaurant at 5:00 pm, where we met Laura Molnar, who had driven down from Bishop to join us for dinner, and, give us some encouragement and discussion on hiking in the Mt. Whitney area. We had followed Laura’s miraculous hikes on Mt. Whitney as well as the Sequoia back country and her trip reports and photos had provided guidance for our Mt. Whitney hike in 2007 as well as preparing for this 2008 hike. So it was very exciting to meet in person for the first time a person who after two years of experience had accomplished more hiking than most acquire in a lifetime. She certainly did not disappoint us with her discussions and information and encouragement. Truly, she is amazing and I am sure she will make a very positive impact on the hiking community in the area for many years to come; also, she is a very accomplished photographer, who has a wonderful storehouse of prime photos of the area, mountains and climbing experiences.
