That looks like one of "Shorty" Lovelace's cabins. I've seen the one in Gardner basin. There was a thread on this site about a year ago I think. A search should find more info.

new to the forum...tried the "search", but no luck..Ill try Google and see what comes up.

Google had some info..one was that he was 5'5" tall, and he built a dozen or so small cabins that were 5'6".

He was trapper, hunter, skier, and alcoholic....

Just been reading Winnett book on "Sierra South". It mentions about a trapper, Shorty Lovelace, who lived in this area before Sequoia and Kings Canyon areas became a National Park. He maintained a line of "pygmy cabins" a well preserved one could be seen near the woods creek crossing in the Rae Lakes loop Trail. I am just quoting the book, I haven't been there! You must be really lucky to have spotted one so far down south! I do read and dream about all the trails we are going to touch and this is in preparation for our Aug 4-13th Trans Sierra hike coming up in two weeks. Excellent photo & map! Thanks!

You can search for lovelace and get a few hits at South Fork and Other Pictures.
