Did anyone else witness the rockfall on Saturday evening around 7:30pm? I was coming down the MMWT, about a mile up the trail from the portal when I heard the crack of boulders coming loose from the south side of the canyon, across from my position. I watched the chunks fall and was concerned when I saw something that appeared to be red and yellow, about the size and shape of a kayak, falling off the steep face. I couldn't fathom what a kayak would be doing up the mountain, so I hoped it wasn't something else. I don't think it was an optical illusion caused by the sunlight, since the canyon was already in shadow. Although I was at mile 21 of 22 . . .
