Please attend the gathering at Schulman Grove if you are in the Eastern Sierra/Bishop/Big Pine area. Authors of three books about the Ancient trees will be on hand for a book signing. Gotta remember to bring some extra cash...

The Schulman Grove Visitor Center was burned to the ground on Sept. 4, cause pending (gee how did that happen).

The gathering will include refreshments, presentations, and music, hopefully nothing with sub-woofers. Be there at 1 p.m. (I will be there much earlier than that).

Here's the Forest Service news release: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/news/2008/09/bristlecone-authors.shtml
Please attend if you can or stay tuned for info on donations to rebuild the visitor center and maybe the research station atop White Mt, which also was severely vandalized.

Thanks

Can't make it to the gathering. How would one keep advised of the status of the rebuilding effort, ways of contributing, etc.? I'd think insurance would cover at least some of the damage - is that the case? This is a wonderful place and certainly worth preserving, and at least restoring.

Wish I could attend. I will also be sending a donation. Here is another link to keep abreast of updates.

Thanks MC! I was wondering if they would open up the main trail, earlier they said only the Discovery Trail was open. I haven't walked the Methuselah Trail in several years.

Best wishes BTW MC, I know you got kinda beat up in another thread and I did not wish to participate in that.

Please folks, be there, it's a great cause and hopefully an eye-opener for those who haven't been there before.

If I were in the area I would go. I had the pleasure of hiking methuselah trail over the 4th July weekend.

Thank you for sending links for those who wish to donate.
