John is going to do a fund raiser for the Seniors in Bishop, he plays piano, and his son will do a slide show of his hike last year, could see alot of local climbers at the event, and on Saturday head down to Ridgecrest and spend the evening with more mountain folks, at the CLMRG 50th event, could that John be the father that has a son thats climbed Everest twice and may be the youngest American to reach the summit, and post messages on this very board from the four corners of earth, shy quiet guy that still looks like he is on his first trip into the back country I think it is .

John and I hiked awhile last summer and we talked about the school allowing the use of the stage and I promised we would get the place filled , so please make this a great event for John to honor his son , help the senior program in Bishop and share a rare moment with some very giving people. Thank You Doug

I had the same question since I won't be in Bishop until Friday afternoon. I talked to Kurt and he said tickets are limited. He will mail out tickets though. Call him at his office (760) 872-4929. I get him a lot on email too: info@sierramountaineering.com.

I talked with John Wedburg yesterday who said ticket sales are starting their exponential climb. Seating is limited: they are only selling 380 tickets or so to ensure all good views of the slide show, and as of yesterday they had sold somewhere around 250. John is also bringing in top musicians from up and down the west coast (Oregon, SoCal) to play with his band before the slide show.

Music starts around 6:30 p.m., Kurt to go on after.

Hope to see a bunch of y'all there!

Well, you all are in for a treat. Kurt's slideshow last night at A-16 in San Diego was very well done, lots of background info on Everest and Nepal, great photos, enthusiastic commentary, all done in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Catch it if you can!

Thanks for letting us know about the talk. I was able to see it in Costa Mesa. Excellent talk and pictures. And he stayed after to answer questions. Definitely worth seeing.
