Ok, people, something is up....

Looking at the number of hits today, it is at about 10% or normal. It is as if a main branch of the Internet has died. I have been able to check in at various times today, and so access is ok for me.

Anyone else having trouble? (of course anyone having trouble couldn't reply.) I am hoping people who are regularly on-line will reply.

Thanks.

with all the recent negativity and trash talking - a break was probably not a bad thing.

And now for your Whitney viewing pleasure:

I'll confess, it was all my fault. I was in Texas paying a $1.869 for gasoline.

(AP) - E-mailers, enjoy the early holiday gift: Spam volume has been cut by more than half because Internet providers pulled the plug on a Web hosting firm that was allegedly helping some of the world's most dastardly junk e-mail gangs.

I saw those news articles. I think maybe the Internet network people are getting a little smarter in tracking the source of the junk.

Here's a graph of the WPSMB usage. Late last night, the bar for 11/18 was really short, which was the reason for my post above. Now it shows normal height. So maybe it is just a matter of when the software generates a new graph. The graph below was "Generated 19-Nov-2008 04:18 PST". It appears it generates a new graph only once every 24 hours.

I like seeing the tallest bars on Mondays. smile

schedule is full through mid=December - when did you have in mind

sadly only one summit of Whitney this year - #25 will have to wait until next year(unless the weather is kind in December?)

Interesting graph! Looks like most people read the board on weekdays (presumably from work), with a lot of "catching up" on Mondays. Not as much activity on weekends. Hmmm...maybe folks on this board have something better to do on weekends than sit at a computer??? Just ask Laura... grin

I thought the photo was a teaser for a TR on a climb you did last weekend. :-(

I've got plans for the next three weekends: Split Day-Climb, Family Fun On Whitney and Walker Pass to Kennedy Meadows, but nothing beyond that. I'm going to try and make up for last year's zero winter climbs by climbing it a lot this year, so if you want to plan something, let me know. Anytime.

BTW, great photos!

Don't you recognize Beach from his first MR summit - ahhhh what a day !!!

Ssorry last Saturday's hike remains secret - we were searching for hidden jewels in other mountain ranges - successful btw

Walkers to Chimney Peak or all the way to Grumpy Bears -- I have done the Chimney Peak crossing - that was a 28 mile hike - you will moan at the people who bring you down and west of the high line - just to regain it at the Spanish Needle saddle. But it is a good way to get familiar with the layout of the land and terriain.

Will stay tuned for December Whitney fun - need to do some winter mountaineering this year too.

I confess to lurking. crazy Didn't think anyone on this board would be interested in my hikes under 10K in So Cal.

I could use some advice on suitable boots/snowshoes for winter hiking, though. Assuming I could get myself to the snowy parts... cool
