Thinking of a main trail summit attempt this weekend. (If my beater car can get up to the Portal!) Wondered if anyone knows a place between LA and Lone Pine to rent some snowshoes? Don't worry, I have the rest...helmet/ice axe/crampons/experience.

I always used to rent mine at the West LA A16 at Pico and Sepulveda (well, one block west of Sepulveda). They had the MSR Denali Ascent EVO, which I ended up buying.

What the fun of doing that trip in December with experience...it just ain't sporting.
