Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Bus Service Lone Pine to Lancaster Metrolink

The local radio station (KSRW) reported this morning that CREST bus service will be offered 3 times a week (?) between Lone Pine and Lancaster's Metrolink station (Metrolink offers rail service several times daily to and from Los Angeles). I think they said service starts Jan 2. They also mentioned a tie-in to the service into Reno with improved connections, etc.

Looks like the run will begin in Mammoth. Here's an except from the article found here: http://www.mammothtimes.com/content/view/93684/27/

"The plan now is for the bus to leave Mammoth at 8:05 a.m. and arrive in Lancaster at approximately 1 p.m. From there, the time to travel to Los Angeles would vary depending on the Greyhound or Metrolink schedule."

The piece doesn't list the proposed return time.
