Just saw a flyer on the window at Wilson's this afternoon for this:

Peter Croft presents a slide show, Sierra Climbing, to benefit the Bardini Foundation. $10 donation at the door, Mill Creek Station (about 10 miles north of B-town).

Saturday, 31 January 2009, 6:00 p.m.

I'll be climbing during the day but I will plan on going to this. Anyone want to meet up?

Whatcha gonna climb that day?
I'd like to see show, but would like to also further justify the trip. Maybe BC ski on Sunday too if conditions are ok?

Brent:

I don't have any plans as of right now (I'm trying this new thing of NOT planning things WAY in advance. A little scary for the Electrical Engineer's daughter who NEEDS a set schedule...) I did talk to a co-worker who owns a ranch and I might go for a day-long ride with her (that's on horseback, bobbits) and be back in time for dinner and show. But plenty of places to play otherwise/XC ski/backcountry ski/watevah. Neverending possibilities, really.

Let me know if you want to come up and play!

d@mn right.
I'll head up for that weekend so let's think up something stoopid. I bet weather will dictate which activity will be the most fun so let's keep an eye on it until later. I'm in tahoe right now and its warm and windy. The snow is still good but will degenerate to crusty-scrapey-crappy in a few days.

I'm glad I'm having an influence on the young studs out there. :-)

Hey Moose - that sounds pretty good - I'm swamped with honey-please-dos but I'm going to try to make it. Thanks for the info. I'll be inviting my immediates and a few friends (i.e., it'll prob be just me and Zip the amazing wonder-dog) Tony B.

I just realized that Richard called me a stud... grin grin

So Saturday I think I might be planning one of a few things, restricted by the fact that we should be back in time for the show (and maybe back to clean up first, but not totally necessary).

1) Driving out the Buttermilk Road and heading up into the Horton Lakes Basin. I thinkin' snowshoe, and this is sort of a scouting mission since I really want to climb Basin in the near-ish future.

2) Up Rock Creek a ways (like as far as we can get) and maybe try to tackle Mt. Starr.

3) A nice scree slog up Keough Peak, with perhaps a short soak before heading up to the show.

4) Mammoth ski day.

Anyone headed up my way?

Wow, Moosie! I think I could handle two of those, but I just don't think I've got the gas for all 4, anymore.

I wanted to try and keep my Whitney streak alive, but since I'm recovering from an illness I picked up in Utah, I'm going to head up to Mammoth for some skiing this weekend. Hopefully, the new snow here will make up for the lack of good snow at Park City.

The show sounds like a good time.

I'll be coming up Friday to ski Sat. to Mon. and shoot pictures as long as the weather holds after that. On the slopes, I'll be the man in red (see web site bio pic).

One last 'boing'...

For any and all in the area, come on out to Mill Creek Station on SAturday night around 6:00 for a slide show by Peter Croft. Suggested donation at the door is $10, benefitting the Bardini Foundation. Mill Creek Station is about 8-10 miles north of B-town, on the north side of 395. Watch for the turn off the road before you see the houses. If you hit the Rovana turn (left) you've gone too far...

I saw him give a slide show in SoCal a few years ago and it's worth EVERY MINUTE! Not only incredible pictures, but gasps all around at Peter's abilities and what he has accomplished. He's a wonderful, warm, humble presenter with stories to keep us occupied for years.

I'll be skiing inbounds at Mammoth Saturday w/ Richard, so keep an eye out for antlers (if they fit over the new helmet), otherwise khaki pants, orange top, and an olive green helmet w/ orange highlights. I'll be the one whooping!!! (And hopefully can keep my ski tips below my antlers this time around!)

Have a great weekend, everyone!
