Hello,
My Dad and I are planning our trip for July for my Dad's second attempt to get to the summit. He was thinking of renting a Camping Trailer to sleep in at Portal to increase the amount of rest he gets. As long as food is kept in the bear lockers is there any issue with bears getting into trailers. Their soft sides worry me, although I guess if a bear wanted to he could get into a motorhome too smile.
Thanks
Dean

Bears are capable of getting into a vehicle. The idea is to remove their motivation. People camp out in tents -- your trailer is Ft. Knox next to that -- without bear break-ins, so removing their motivation does work.

Thanks, that makes sense. We'll just keep our food and anything that smells in the bear locker.

Since it will be a rental, make sure you clean-up after the last renters.

Yeah! If you get the one with peanut butter smeared all over the inside, move on to another rental!

For the cost of renting a trailer, why not just get a room in town?

I usually sleep in the back of my Suburban - third row seats left at home. I sleep on a great air pad with pillows and blankets and it is great. Maybe you could rent an SUV - it should be cheaper. But still need to make sure it is totally cleaned out.
