With luck, one of the east side people will give you a more current idea. When I've done late April/early May skit trips out of Horseshoe Meadow, I've almost always found snow blocking the road, at least by that last hill leading down to the old pack station. The road may be perfectly clear everywhere, but you can get avalanche debris holding on some of the switchbacks or that last hill (which I think is about 2 miles from the parking lot). I've often parked there without problems for as long as a 10 days.
That's really early to be doing a hiking trip. Hope you're prepared for a fair amount of post holing.
