On which mountain is Whitney Portal actually located? The reason I am asking is that there are other mountain summits that are closer to Whitney Portal than Mt. Whitney itself, such as Lone Pine Peak and Wotan's Throne.

Shawn, interesting question, and the first I've seen on this board.

I think those into "prominence" would clearly put Whitney Portal on Mount Whitney.

Whitney Portal is in the "valley" between Thor and Candlelight peaks, which I think of as sub-peaks of Mount Whitney.
