Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Horseshoe Meadows/ Cottonwood Pass/ Trail Peak

I looked back a number of pages and did not see a thread on the subject. To access Trail Peak south of Horseshoe Meadows it looks like you are using the Cottonwood Pass Trailhead. Are you, and if you are is my assumption that the 40people/ day quota applies to Trail Peak?

I assume you are day hiking Trail Peak? There is no quota or permit required for day hikes in this area. Yes, the Cottonwood Pass trailhead would be the best way to access Trail Peak, though you can use the Mulkey Pass trailhead also.
