Laura,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Sunday (and coincidentally, the longest day of the year -- nice day for a birthday)!!! I hope you and your dad are able to celebrate on the summit of Whitney that day as you had planned.
I thought I'd post this a couple of days early so others could send you their best wishes if they want to before they head to the mountains for the weekend.

Happy Birthday Moosie.
I always enjoy reading your inspiring messages. I'm waiting for your trip report on Sequoia. Last year in July, my brother and I were blasted by ligtning off of Alta Peak. I hope conditions were better for your group.

Laura:
Wishing you the very best birthday celebration. It looks like you and your dad will have good weather on Sunday for your hike, but be careful of the snow. Of course, you've been up there enough to know what to expect.
We'll be staying at the hostel both Saturday and Sunday night, so maybe we'll get a chance to see you.

Happy Birthday, Laura, from the flatlands of MO.
Have a great Father's Day with your dad on Whitney. Hope the weather and trail conditions cooperate with your plans. I'll be spending my Father's Day and the next week with 60+ other peoples' kids at Scout summer camp...on a lake in TN, so no mountains but a nice locale, nonetheless.

Thanks, everyone! Pop and I are hitting the MT this morning, heading for Trail Camp/Consultation Lake. Plans are changed a bit, as we will try for the summit Saturday instead of Sunday (Pop isn't too keen on the death march idea of summit and out on Sunday), but if anyone is in the vicinity of the Portal Sunday afternoon, we're gonna have a blowout Pah-tee at THE STORE!! I think I'm more nervous about this trip than anything else I've ever done. Thanks for the good wishes, and keep the good juju flowing as I get Pop to the Top! To the luckiest girl in the world,
Partly in honor of your BD, me and my fellow co-leader of our monthly hiking group out here will be doing what we call a "non-weenie hike" (minimum, 10 miles) Sunday afternoon after church -- place yet TBD. But I'm sure everything in OH is a weenie hike compared to what you and your Pop will be doing. ENJOY!

Happy Birthday Laura. With the plan changes, I won't see you on the trail Sunday, but maybe at the WP store.

Happy, Happy birthday to a fellow June birthday girl.
Looks like you will have lots of company at the summit. Have a great Father's Day with your dad and stay safe (I know you will).
My dad was born and raised in the Rockies and instilled a love of the mountains in me. When we would drive past Mt. Whitney/Lone Pine he always said he wanted to hike to the top but never had the chance due to ill health. His wish gave me a goal and one day I will make it. (So far I've only made it to Trail Camp) When my kids were little we started camping at the Portal (site 44 before you had to reserve it) and the more we visited the portal, the more I wanted to summit. I will ... for my Dad.
I really enjoy your trip reports and pictures.
You are the luckiest girl in the world. Have FUN!!!

HAPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!
I'd been thinking of you the last week, wondering when your Dad was going to arrive for your hike together.
You'll have such a great time... my favorite memories of my Dad are all in the mountains! Can't wait to see the photos!
