BobR has out-done himself again. About a week ago he announced he planned to take a photo of the entire 97 switchbacks, and he did! Heretofore, he and others have photographed 90 of the 97 switchbacks, because the ridge at switchback 8 blocks the view of the first seven from Mt. Muir. But BobR solved the problem by climbing Wotan’s Throne, which gives the full perspective. You can see the thread HERE if you haven’t seen it already.

Here is his stitched photo:

I have taken the liberty of numbering the switchbacks from 1 to 97. You can see this in high resolution HERE.

Great work, BobR! I can see now that even a better photo can be shot when the snow is gone and the lighting is such that all the switchbacks are sun-lighted. BobR has done this before, but from Muir. Looks like another climb up Wotan’s Throne for BobR after the snow is gone…

Some time ago I created a map of the 97 switchbacks, which BobR was a great help in verifying and giving constructive advice.

Nice! You can see them all real clear when you look at the high res and zoom in.

Thanks to you both...it is nice to see the switchbacks all at once...reminds me of where I have been and where I plan to venture next year.

I have a day permit for July 7th. One of the earlier pics with the missing bottom switchbacks has been my desktop on my computer, now this pic is. It really helps motivate for the training. wink

is the snow chute/field to the right of the switch backs where people sometimes glissade down to save time ?

Yes, it saves you time if you know know how to glissade...

If you don't, you can become a fatality.

Journey well...

Awesome picture! Sure wish it looked like that on our planned summit day of 6/16. Lots of white stuff when we woke at TC.
