Hi all-we found a camera just below Lower Boy Scout Lake on the MR July 5th. I have no idea how long it had been there-there were only 2 other people on the trail and no one in camp at UBSL and the ranger we ran into said it was the same the day before. Will mail it back to the owner if you can identify it.

Absent any response, if convenient, you might consider uploading a couple of pictures from the camera (if digital) and posting them here -- pictures like summit photos with someone in them, that kind of thing. It might help in the ID process.

Hmmm... that would have added some mystery to the fun if I had posted something like this:

I was out hiking the other day... found a camera chip sitting on a boulder. And here are some pictures from the chip...

But instead, I posted this message.

...Just enjoying "My Fifteen Minutes of Fame".   cool

WOW-what a crazy story...I am still shaking my head! Hope this one turns out as well. I called the Ranger Station to report it in case anyone called there and we are looking through the pictures for any clues as to who the owner might be. Will call the Ranger Station again to see if they are able to contact the people who went up via the MR during that time-how many can there be?? Any other suggestions?

Try copying a stock picture of your exact camera (including color) from the manufacturer's website and pasting it in a post here so people will know what it looks like. That's one of the things I did when I lost mine in 2007. Granted, my camera was never found, but at least Steve (and others) knew what they were looking for.

Good idea-I will do it when I have a chance. Meanwhile I wondered if anyone happened to be on the summit in the next couple of days would they snap a picture of the register for July 4th-maybe that will provide a clue. I really want to get this camera back to it's owner!

Have you checked the pictures in the camera for their date? It might have been lost before the 4th.
