Well, recently I was in Lone Pine to hike Whitney, and I did it. It really tested my body with the altitude sickness, as I got a little uneasy at times, but with several breaks, proper hydration, and motivation from my hiking partner, I was able to overcome it.
I would like to thank "cld5n". I would say her name, but I am not sure what she wants disclosed over the internet. This young women got me to the top, no questions asked. I needed a break every 30minutes or so, once we got above 12500 feet and she accommodated me every step of the way. Most others would have left with frustration, but she didn't. Thank you very much, your the best.
Doug, thanks for the hostel for starters. What a great price for a great place. Also, thanks for offering to LEND me trekking poles. As much as I wanted to take you up on the offer, I didnt feel right borrowing them off of you. Considering the STEAL of a lifetime staying in your hostel, i didnt feel like robbing you some more! LOL! Besides, even though I am not a big hiker, I am sure I will use these poles again. Also, thanks for taking the time to sit and talk with me and "cld5n" after our hike. AFter 14 hours of adventure, it was nice to sit and enjoy your company, your burger and your beer!
Crazy Jack and Betsy, was a pleasure meeting both of you. Jack, you are crazy by the way! up and down twice in one day? God bless ya. Betsy, you are even crazier for putting up with him! Just joking! I enjoyed your company as well and wish you both the best of luck. Jack, if you make it up and down again within 24 hours I will buy ya a beer next time I meet up with ya

Also, I would like to thank the poor Vietnamese guy who was lost in the mountains from July 1 to July 3. You made me feel like a FAST hiker, considering I passed you on the way up around the switchbacks and then passed you again on the way down by Meadow Lake or whatever it was called. I forget the name of the place. But anyways, I don't know how you survived 3 days up there without equipment.... you are one lucky son of a bitch! god bless ya!
Anyways, this was something I really wanted to do to prove something to myself, and i did it. Thank you everyone who answered my 100 posts with random questions and those I met while in California! It was a pleasure.
Dave.
