I am curious to hear from others who might have used LPL as a place to acclimate and relax prior to summitting. I find it much less crowded, and more peaceful than outpost camp. And trailcamp is a treeless, cold, wasteland. Personally I would rather wake up a little earlier and hike a little farther than stay at either of these places. Although it is only 1400' above the Portal, it does cut almost 6 miles off of the roundtrip. It is also a nice place to dayhike and go fishing and you don't need a permit for this. Any feedback on this approach?

It's a much better place to camp on the way down than Outpost Camp. It's off the trail so you don't get the day hikers disturbing your sleep at 3 AM with their noise and headlights.

Same goes if you are taking 2 days to Trail Camp.
