Be good to hear from the ladies too - I don't want Lisa being the only gal out on our trip.

This girl is in! smile

I'm slow but a real trooper (so I've been told). I've ventured off trail, but I don't know what real class III feels like. I will have a climbing friend of mine show me some basic moves locally prior to the trip first, eek

Having missed the '07 Thor and '08 Dragon hikes, I definitely want to try to clear that weekend to go up there.

What is the October snow like?

Had a great time doing Dragon's Peak last year. Wish I could join you this year but I organize a Century ride for ski patrollers in the so cal area and it is slated for the same day.

Hi Kristine -
Adding you to the list.

I see you are out of Palmdale. If you want some additional hikes between now and then, you should look into the KRVHC hiking club. Many folks from Ridgecrest to Bakersfield out most every weekend. Good opportunity to gain experience and meet more people whe enjoy hiking. Last week we were up at Moro Rock and Crescent Meadow.

Tom, I'd like to join the group as well.

M.C. Reinhart, if you are able to make it, you're welcome to hitch a ride with me. I'm from Chehalis, and drive right thru Vancouver.

Thanks, Tom! I may join the KRVHC on 10/10 for the Tehachapi hike, since I'll be at the Cottonwood Lakes next weekend.

I was browsing through your photo abums (nice pics!!), and saw a couple of trips to Thor Peak in Oct and Nov of 07. There was quite a bit of snow and ice! eek

Will we be doing the Smiley Face route this time? Same route up and down?

Thanks again!

October is usually stable for Thor - November would be more questionable. We will monitor conditions as time gets closer and report.

Based on the numbers - probably will have at least 2 groups with different routes. I may lead smiley and then someone else(possibly Richard) could lead a SE culour route. Likewise we would have different routes down - possible I will come down the secret route to LBSL.

More details soon

List is updated.

Kristine -
You will like Tehachapi. It may still be warm - so a good idea to bring water.

Great Jeff - if there's room for us we may bunk with you - though we are currently trying to decide other possible options which may include earlier and later overnighting at UBSL or Tulainyo and maybe Russell and or Whitney summits. At least that's what I proposed in an email to Adam while you guys were on the phone. It appears there is permit and quota availabilty depending upon your entry point - be glad to have you along if your schedule permits. Tony B.
