Just wondering where everyone is hanging out this weekend. I'll be covering about 76 miles in Kings Canyon starting at midnight Friday night/Saturday morning. If you're near Road's End, Paradise Valley, Pinchot Pass, Mather Pass, Simpson Meadow or Granite Pass maybe we'll see each other. Would love an excuse to stop and catch my breath.

So what are your big weekend plans?..............................DUG

I'll likely be scaling lofty (1,282 feet) Sugarloaf Mountain (MD), one way or another.

Highi:
Sugarloaf is one of my favorite hikes in the area. I like the longer route (blue blaze I think). I may head up there one more time sometime in the next week before I head out to MW.

Pikes Peak in Colorado. Shorter route from the West Side, not
the lengthy 13+ miles one way Barr Trail to summit.

We were going to do Baden Powell in the Angeles Forest. A no go due to the Station fire. Will probably do San Jacinto from Devil's slide. Prep for Langley in two weeks..

Some friends will be camping at an unnamed Lake in SEKI. I'm going to meet them there at dawn on Sat. (with breakfast) and hike out.

Mt. Lola, the highest peak in the Tahoe National Forest.

LA's on fire...Angeles Forest and San Gabriels are all closed (according to the Ranger's Stations), until after Labor Day due to fires and fire risk. Had planned on Ice House Saddle to Telegraph Peak, but no dice.

Heading up to San Jacinto to get a little altitude.

I don't go out on holiday weekends. Even the wilderness is too crowded for me, and you have to get there.

I'll be out in the Sierra next week.

Here in Arizona I hope rain (much needed) will keep me home for most of the weekend, if not I will hike a short section of the AZ trail and a hike (unsure of where right now) with the kids on Monday.
