Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Permits needed.

Hi All,

A few of us are hoping to hike Mt. Whitney on Labor day weekend. We made our plans quite late and could not get permits. We are hoping to get lucky with walk-in permits.

If anyone has unused day-hike permits, please ping me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi All,

Just wanted to share this with you all. We hiked Whitney on Sunday. We did not have permits beforehand but 31 day permits were available at 2pm on Saturday at visitor center.

There were 5 other groups looking for walk-in permits and I am sure all the groups got permits in the lottery.
