Howdy All,

I finally uploaded pictures from my John Muir trail backpacking trip:
http://www.photoshop.com/user/EllensHike...df&wf=share

We averaged about 10 miles a day -- started at Duck Pass trail on Sunday August 2 and came out over Kearsarge into Onion Valley on Friday August 14. Now that I have a better idea of logistics and how to lighten the pack (I have four lumbar fusions and three cervical fusions), I want to go back next year and do the entire JMT.

It was wonderful to meet Rosie -- www.ahikeforhope.com -- on the trail near Evolution Meadow. There is a picture of the two of us about half-way through the slide show.

Ellen,

I entered from Onion valley on the 12th and camped for 2 nights with the dad and son team in your photo's. The last I saw them they were about 1/2 hour from summiting Whitney. Great pictures

Howdy Dont,

Thanks so much -- do you remember the names of the father and son? They're great people -- we met on the evening of the second day at Silver Lake. I had no doubt that they would complete the JMT.

Two weeks in southern CA and I'm ready to head back to the Sierras.

Wow - I think that's the most impressive slide show I've ever seen. Great pictures of an epic hike.

Nice!

Great hike, Ellen!

You must have run into my old climbing partner, Jim, who owns Vermillion Valley Resort!

Howdy Ken the Mountain Doc,

Wow, it really is a small world...Yes, I did meet Jim and liked him immediately.

Howdy Neil,

Thanks for your kind words. Now I want to return and see the northern and southern sections of the JMT.

Hi Ellen!!!

I was hoping that I'd hear from you somewhere! It was sure fun hanging out with you, Terry and Sylvia! I can't remember your friend's name who met up with you at LeConteCanyon; I wondered how he did after I last saw you (he wasn't looking too perky as you all headed up Mather Pass). I was soooo tempted to follow you over the Pass 'cause it was so early in the day, but I was already a day ahead of schedule.

I had a nice campsite at Upper Palisade Lake. Later that day, three men set up camp not far from me, and shared their dinner with me - fresh caught fish...YUM! I'm really thinking about taking up fishing on my next trip smile .

Have you made contact with Laura (Moosetracks) yet? She couldn't believe that I ran into you on the trail! She's on this board, as well as the High Sierra Topix board.

Great pictures!!

Rosie

Ellen,

I believe the son was Kevin, but I don't remember the father's name. When I met them they were traveling with a mother Daughter team, and a solo woman named Ursela who was from Vermont. The father and son were from the Bay area.
