I have some chuncks of time off coming in December thru Februrary and itching to do a good 5-7day trip - maybe even solo. Longer if i can arrange re-supply, but 10 days max, etc.

I don't want extreme cold weather, so something like Whitney is out of the question, and I don't have that experience anyway. I wouldn't mind seeing some snow/weather, just don't want it extreme. What are some options? Thinking of New Mexico, Grand Canyon, maybe northern california or oregon, etc.? I'd like to get out of SoCal. Anything in driving distance that i just don't know about?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to avoid snow in the December-February, then that generally means staying below 4 or 5,000', including OR, NM, northern CA, etc.

Have you considered a multi-day backpack along the PCT on southern CA?

Thanks Kevin

Yea, i though of PCT down here. Ideally, would like to do something a bit different - outside of the usual SoCal/Sierra terrain. Sometimes, it all seems to have the same look, feel, etc.

I'll keep lookin, knowing that PCT is an option.
