I wouldn't normally have posted about this simple day climb, but it had some interesting aspects. Pictures here.

Damn Bob, you did not hug me or my friend when we met you on the Switchbacks on Sunday, it must have been the 4 day growth. The least you could have done is make my name more prominent the picture of the sign in sheets, after all I was the first to sign in that day.

Hi Bob,
One of the pictures at the top, I saw a picture of you and two ladies and A DOG. Did you do something when you see a dog on a national park trail?

Nice seeing you on the trail yesterday!..........................................DUG Wow. I remember when we met, the crowd with Seth, and you said you were "Doug 67 from the message board." I didn't connect because I was not thinking "DUG67." I think your son was with you, and I'm guessing that Seth is a relative or friend. Nice to make your acquaintance, and I'll correct the spelling in my notes. Damn Bob, you did not hug me or my friend when we met you on the Switchbacks on Sunday, it must have been the 4 day growth. Bill, I don't remember! Did we stop and talk? I passed several people who seemed to know me, but didn't say who they were. Or maybe they said but my attention was distracted. There were, after all, distractions in abundance! Bob, when did you start working for the Forest Service? Richard, you call this work? One of the pictures at the top, I saw a picture of you and two ladies and A DOG. Did you do something when you see a dog on a national park trail? TBT, I don't know about a dog! They aren't allowed past Trail Crest, so I assumed that little black thing was a marmot. At any rate, I volunteer for Inyo National Forest, and Sequoia National Park is out of my jurisdiction. West of the Crest, I'm just an ordinary guy.

That was us again at the store after you got cleaned up and were talking with Doug Sr about the missing hiker. (did they find him?) The boy got his "I climbed" hat and we headed south....................................DUG

I went back and reviewed Bob's pictures. All I saw was a nice group with many very attractive ladies which is normal when Bob is around. Not a DOG in the group by my standards.
As for the 4 legged mammal we have alot of these in Colorado. I believe it is a Southwestern Marmot that has not grown out its winter coat yet, thus appearing quite thin and explains why you can see its legs. Once the winter coat appears it will look very much like its Whitney cousin, ie the fat marmot on the summit that is in previous pictures I have seen.

Looks like a very small Holstein to me. It probably wandered over from Olancha Peak.

We talked to you about the guy encouraging the wasted lady towards the summit and the guy with no water, no pack and paper lunch bag...just everyday normal stuff on the MMWT.

Bob, if you're not careful, people are going to start thinking that the "R" stands for "Randy"...strictly British, of course.

Bob, I've been wondering - did they give you any spare uniforms? I think we're about the same size...

Boy, it has definitely gotten pretty tough on Whitney, even marmots have to be licensed, Love them marmots!

Yep that is definitely a Southwestern Marmot since in Colorado the Division of Wildlife tag them with blue colored tags. Bears have yellow ear tags and cows have either white or various colored (other than blue) ear tags, thus I know that is not a Holstein as someone suggested.

Bob,
I'll be up there when the people are gone and ground is white...the best time of the year.
Most likely in January or February.
