I always worry about that when I am in a precarious position: under rockfall, on top of a jumble of rock, etc. I hope there were not issues.

According to this "shake map", it would have been lightly felt around the summit area.

Interesting...looks like a bit of a swarm of small quakes up at the west end of the Long Valley Caldera (Mammoth Lakes). Nothing you could feel at the surface but a bunch of little quivers. Wonder if the two are related?

The Whitney Cam has been off-kilter and out of focus for the last several days. My poor eyes are being deprived of such splendor.

A portend to the series of seismal events?

Wonder if The Whit wiggled wee upwards...

The cats noticed the newest @6:23 pm, Friday, here in Fresno. Before I felt it.

And most all of these have been incredibly shallow, as well -- some at a depth of as little as 0.1 km.

Maybe one of the quakes will rupture down to magma and we'll get some oozing. California might be overdue for a huge earthquake, it's even more overdue for a volcano eruption. I'd be there, or near as I could get, with camera. Let her rip!

Since the initial 5.0 quake on 10/1, there have been a total of 255 quakes of any size at that spot, to date.

Well, if there is any huge eruption, I would not want to be anywhere east of the event due to the gulf stream.

This is a very informative animated map showing the sequence
of the swarm.

FWIW - we've not felt them, and we're 41 miles away.

We've been watching on the usgs site also & looks like the area is hoppin' but you say you haven't felt anything?

that's good, my husband & crew is heading up Thursday. Hoping it will be geologically calmer by then.

I was in the elevation gear store in LP Friday night a little after 6. The first jolt was like a truck going by. The next couple of jolts were like being on a boat. Gets your attention....
