Thank you very much Steel Frog. It really was quite a project, the imagery spans 27 years of photographing in the backcountry. The majority of the work is from the last four years spent yo=yoing on the JMT. We experienced a lot of great things and met a lot of good people.

The title reminds me of the old JMT classic, Pathway in the Sky.

Yes, Pathway in the Sky had more than just a little influence on the entire project. I still have the signed edition by Hal Roth that was given to me as a youngster. It is indeed a classic.

Currently the only signing we have scheduled is at Spellbinder Books in Bishop on Friday Oct. 30th. There are others pending in Mammoth and the Bay Area. We will try and keep you posted.

Great photos John. I met you on the trail this past summer at Dollar Lake. I was waiting to see your final product. WOW! I will be ordering mine for a gift to my wife. All the photos bring back great memories of our JMT trip last summer. Good luck with the new venture.

Hey Scott, thank you. As I recall we met and chatted at length on the trail just above the lake. Glad you like the photos, we're very happy with the quality of the final printing as well.

Take care

John

I was able to get one of the limited editions , He has more , they come in a hard cover box and are numbered,These or the standard would make great gifts ,any one thinking of the JMT or has hiked it, the photos are like being there. I purchased one of his limited edition books for my wife and she loves it. He also put in a personal note for her birthday and shipped it the same day. The book gives me a few too many "good ideas"!

John,

I was on the JMT this last summer and ran into a couple (Ken and Mary) who had met you north of Foresters Pass.... they told me about your book that was soon-to-be published. We were all pretty excited about it.

So... how does one go about getting a Limited Edition, or (even better) a Signed, Limited Edition? I live in Washington State, and as much as I'd love to run down to hang out in Bishop for a couple days, it's not always practical.

Thanks for the info.

Rosie

Rosie,

In case John is no longer following this thread, I will suggest one solution for ordering.

In October I went to the website noted in the first post in this thread. Then I went to the link called CONTACT. I used the phone number in CONTACT to order the book over the phone. That way I could give the precise insciption I wanted.

We snagged #66, signed by John and Mark, with a wonderful note to my daughter. My daughter completed the JMT a few years ago and will start college next fall. It is a great present for her. The book is a gem and will remain in our family for decades.

Hi Rosie

I'm still here! I think I remember Ken and Mary, they were re-supplying you?
We still have limited additions available. You can order directly through our website at http://johndittli.com/site/content/view/57/48/

For those interested, here on the Eastside there is a book signing for Friends of the Crowley Lake Library, at the library Dec 13 4-7, another in Mammoth at the Booky Joint Dec 19 4-6

John
