FRESNO, Calif. - A police officer from Southern California is among three hikers missing in Kings Canyon National Park near Fresno.

Officials say San Bernardino Officer Lanier Rogers and brothers Jordan and Jake Zeman were reported missing Monday night by their families.

The men began their six-day, 65-mile hike at the Road's End trail on Oct. 7 and planned to hike to elevations as high as 14,000 feet.

They were scheduled to return to their vehicles Monday afternoon.

Searchers were called from around the state to aid Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in the search effort, which was hampered by the storm that hit much of the state.

Any hikers who earlier this week walked the area between Road’s End, east to Forrester Pass, south to the Kern-Kaweah River or north to Bubbs Creek, were asked to call investigators at (559) 565-3195.

I'm looking at the map Spinx Lakes quad, and if I was a betting man, they were in the area of Roaring River Ranger station and instead of heading out over Avalanche pass, "Thought" that they could follow the Roaring River down instead and got stuck above the falls.

Just a guess.
At Least they are safe.

Thanks, I just couldn't come up with any other reason why they would be in that area.
