I am a Scoutmaster in Orange County, CA. I am looking for an area to take Scouts were they can safely build snow caves and camp over night. I am not looking for a hike.

For years I've have done this event at Paradise on Mt Rainier, WA., but am unaware of a location in CA.

Any advice?

Rick

Lodgepole or Wolverton in Sequoia National Park would work.

I was a scoutmaster up to a year ago and we would take our scouts up near Mammoth Lakes to make snow caves. Ask if you would like more specifics. Mammoth may be farther than you want to go; we're in Ridgecrest and it is still a 3 hr drive.

Mammoth. Lots of snow. Go to the end of Lake Mary Road, park the car and walk up from there, many locations to build a cave.

Great Activity!
As a Scout in Oregon in mid '60's we went "snow caving" once and it is the most memorable trip I can remember from those days.
