I'm getting major cabin fever and can't wait for school to be out. From your best historical guesses, when should the majority of snow be gone from the Cottonwood Lakes area? May, June? A feeble question I know but as the Animals once said, "I gotta get out of this place."

May, June, or maybe even earlier sound about right depending on the snowpack. Here's a link to the Cottonwood Lakes water sensor which has real-time as well as historical data.

It has more to do when Horseshoe Meadow Road opens. Traditionally, the road opens Memorial Day weekend.

I've been up there mid-June a 3 or 4 times...including after the last two mothers of all winters.

A couple of years ago I inquired at the visitor center in Lone Pine as to when the roads are generally open, and was told that Inyo County staff work to make sure they're open in time for the opening day of trout fishing season. Trout fishing is big business in the Eastern Sierra.

Fishing season for the Cottonwood Lakes area doesn't open until July 1st. The early opener season is the first Saturday in March and the general season is the last Saturday in April. The Inyo County Road Department tries to have Horseshoe Meadow Road open by Memorial Day.
