Heresy! Bee, rank heresy.

Everybody knows that chocolate & choccy-covered coffee beans are in a food group by themselves, and proudly occupy the peak of the food pyramid.

think m & m's with a chocolate covered coffee bean.
even in summer they melt in your mouth, not in your pack.

I just read the most intriguing account of MR climbers eating mayonaise sandwiches the whole way....!!!

However, I seem to remember eating thee most dee-licious homemade cookies after one particular climb up to Thor(that might bee worth replicating!)

I pretty much stick to the “bland is best” approach when I’m backpacking (does anyone remember the nutritionist, Paul Bragg, from the 70’s?) When I get above 10,000 feet, my taste preference changes. I don’t want anything too spicy, and I REALLY don’t like anything sweet.

My favorite snacks are salty - nuts, those single wax-covered cheese (yum!), and asian cracker mix. Most bars end up being too sweet, so I end up just carrying them around ‘til I can give ‘em away to someone; the thought of a candy bar would just gag me. Too bad I don’t live at altitude – I’d probably eat a lot better. smile

food threads seem to have a life of their own, so here are some more quotes. Harvey

The all time best is PP&J. They are always good. I also love the cliff shots and mini sneaker bars. The bit size ones are good because it is just enough to give you a boost.
Those are all my favorites oh and I like the dried mango. Hum hum

Salty roasted cashews, Vienna sausage floating on a glob of mayo that's resting on a piece of Ry-crisp.

I would have chalked it up to a typo, but twice in one thread seemed too much of a coincidence. I was hoping there was some awesome variant on the pbj I didn't know about. Oh wpll...

Hey there Mr. Condron, this is my serious thread on some serious nutritional aides to my survival, err, my stomach's survival on the mountain. All of us who know you KNOW that MAYONAISE is your 5th food group. (the little individual packets are a life-saver to one who had waaaaay too many dry tuna pouches)

What the heck. Have you never heard of PB&J Peanut Butter and Jelly? Or is everyone just having a laugh at my expense? That's ok I can take it.

I still stand by my PB&J. So laugh all you want..
Bee I love them. Next time we hike I'll bring one just for you..

I'm well acquainted with how fantastic pb&js are. I even considered taking a bite of yours on Saturday when you weren't looking. All that's happening here is that you and Mark both wrote about "pp&js" within a few posts of each other and I was worried I was missing out on something.

k who is Blindtheft? It seems that we hiked together but I can't put Blindtheft with a face or another name. I also didn't realize the Mark made the same booboo. I liked it better when I could give someone crap for giving me crap. Thanks for taking my fun away. This really does deserve a hit now. whistle

You would likely know me as Dan, the dashingly handsome guy that glissaded down the Baldy bowl behind you last Saturday.
