I’ve been unlucky for the last 2 years in the lottery, requesting an overnight permit for 3 people in summer. This year I put in 2 permit requests giving lots of date options – again for 3 people overnight. This year I got both permits – for the same dates (2nd and 3rd July). My questions are these.

Can I personally pick up both permits?. I have additional friends that want to make the trip, so picking up both permits would enable this.

If I can’t pick up 2 permits for the same dates, then can my ‘alternative trip leader’ pick up the second permit? Again allowing a larger group.

My permit notification doesn’t show alternative trip leaders, although I’m sure I appointed them on the permit application. Do I need to call the permit office to confirm the names?

Any info on the above points would be appreciated. Coming down from Canada means I want to be sure before booking additional flights for extra people. It’s also the reason I didn’t attempt a ‘walk in permit’ in past years – too far to come to be unlucky.

Hope to see you on the trail. Still debating whether to bring (instep) crampons for those dates.

Regards
Jonathan.

Sure. They are your permits. Time will tell on the crampons. Check back for trip reports closer to your hike date.

Hi Jonathan Call the permit office and get the answer. The last thing you want to do is get here and find that you were given wrong information. You will be coming at the start of the peak season so the workload on the front desks for people picking up permits means a kink slows the system down. Thanks Doug

Thanks for the info guys, I'll call the permit office when I get a chance.

Jonathan.
