I did not take the time to read through this entire thread so sorry if this has already been asked. I'm wondering if anyone would like to go in on renting an entire room at the hostel. I have two coming up so would need four more to rent a six bed room.

Spinefxr,

I am driving up solo from Orange County Friday for the Candlelight Hike. Are you talking about renting a room at the Hostel for Friday night, Saturday night, or both? I was planning on staying somewhere up around the Portal Friday night, hiking and eating Saturday, and have made a reservation at the Hostel for a bed in the Bunk Room for Saturday night. If in fact we all are meeting at the Hostel Saturday at 6 AM, I'll stay at the Hostel Saturday night also. I would be willing to share and pitch in for an entire room if they will let me change my reservatation from a bunk to share with you and yours.

Let me know.

Thanks !

Richard,

I was planning on staying at the Hostel Friday night and I could go in on the room too. If you have it full no problem.

Quick question. Since the Meysan Lakes trail is pretty dry, and it appears we will be going off the trail before we reach the Grass Lakes, should we bring extra water?

Which brings up an interesting question: Do we want to do this as the typical scree slog that it will be if we just head up to the peak, or do we want to do the scenic route by heading up to Meysan Lake before heading up the scree slog? This would probably add an hour to an hour-and-a-half to the climb. My personal preference would be to do the scenic route.

The answer from other participants will be important in letting the LPL group know how much longer they can wait before heading up.
