The organization that I am associated with has had to cancel several group trips (6 people each) due to an unforseen incident.
They will be trying again in 2011.

All permits were for 3 days, 2 nights entering and exiting on main Mt. Whitney trail. The avilable permits are for July 6-8 (6 people) and August 11-13 (6 people).

Also, the group I am supposed to lead this weekend has had some cancellations. One (1) person backed out and three (3) novices have decided not to attempt the snow/ice on the main trail or the Mountaineers Route. So, there are also four (4) 3 day, 2 night permits available for June 26-28.

For more information into reserving the permits, please contact the Wilderness Permit Reservation Office, Inyo National Forest at (760) 873-2483.

I hope to see you on the trail. Good luck everyone! Glad to let "you all" know it here first.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate hikers letting us know when they need to turn in permits.

If anybody has to turn in their permits for two overnighters on July 15th....let me know and I'll call the Wilderness Reservation Office. JQ

I too can use one overnight permit for Thursday, July 15th. If anyone will be turning one permit back in for that day, you can send me a private message to let me know when you're turning it in, so I can then call. Thank you.
