My group will be doing our annual dayhike of Whitney on July 21st. Since half of the group are newbies to the Whitney experience, I am trying to keep them posted on the current trail conditions. When I was up there over the July 4th weekend, you had to pass several easy snow patches before arriving at Trail Camp. I know that the cables still had snow then, as did the traverse just before Trail Crest. If anyone who went up in the past few days can post what the trail is like, I can pass this onto my group. I myself will be heading back up this Friday for my five days at Whitney, including a night on the summit. Thank you. Whitney Mike

Snow is not an issue anymore.

There are still patches that you may still need to cross, but they have big trenches now, so it will be nearly impossible to get hurt.

The Cables are passable on all rock now (right next to the cable/rope that someone tied up there near the top of them), except if you happen to have really, really wide lower end.

Thanks for the picture. I've got one month to go and I now officially have "the fever."

Richard - Thank you for the update, and especially the great picture of the the upper cabled section. As that old saying goes "A picture is worth a thousand words", and your picture says it all. Whitney Mike
