Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Insect update on new army pass?

Does anyone know how bad the mosquitos are this year from Cotton Wood lakes to Mt. Whitney? We have a group starting up that route in a week.

I hiked from Horseshoe Meadows to Mt Langley over July 4th. The mosquitoes were out in force at our camp near Long Lake. I was originally going to sleep on my tarp, but opted to put up my tent so that I wouldn't get eaten alive. Glad I did cause the mosquitoes were active from the time we awoke until bedtime.
