In hopes of keeping my pack as light as possible, it occurred to me that leaving the tent may be an option, as I plan on spending only one night on the mountain. I forewent my tent on recent trips to San Gorgonio and San Jacinto, and made out ok. Just used my ENO hammock. However, looking at pictures of Trail Camp, it doesn't appear to be very hammock friendly. What do ya'll think of this tentless aspiration??? Just sleeping on the ground???? And no, I don't have a bivy. Thank you!!!

If you want to keep your pack as light as possible, do it as a day hike. If that’s not an option, check the forecast and take a bivy. You’ll probably be fine. No bivy? Take the bleepin’ tent! A little unexpected rain is no big deal in a bivy. It could be a huge deal in a bag that gets soaked and provides no wind protection.

No trees at Trail camp. I took a bivy two weeks ago. Worked fine for me.

can't say I haven't done it with just a bag and a groundcloth, because then i felt sure it couldn't rain & it didn't, but that was then trail camp bedroom
