Doug, any reports on the snow at the crest? Is the trail passable? Or should I try the MR? My brother and I want to try next week.

Hi we have only had that one storm and the coverage is moving up now to above 10,000' We have had reports on the Mountaineers route but not much on the main trail .
The backside should be light snow with icy spots above outpost in the shadowed areas I think the snow is drifted enough you may still find the trail covered. I looked up the other day from the Portal and the switchback area looks thin coverage but not clear.

That being said add a day or two if conditions slow you down . Have a great trip .
