On the summit count the standard reply is never but I would like to go some time. Dave K. and I was heading somewhere sometime and the topic came up. We chose 11 times this seemed like a nice number if you said less you may seem like a slacker if you said more you know you would sound like well you know.
On the 9 March hike we will hike or even walk somewhere , bring a jacket , snacks and rain or shine we will have stories after the hike to tell AND pictures .

It was 72 in town yesterday and again the storm last night, was a strong storm trucks blown over, flooding, roads closed and everything but not here.

Watch the webcam for the melt and as we get closer I will add conditions about the flowers or trails we may use . Thanks

Great, Paul. See you then.

But yes, we're guaranteed to make it from Point A to Point B on Saturday, so as soon as we're all assembled, we'll blindfold Doug and spin him around and wherever he points, that will be one of the Points...

Rain today late afternoon but warm ,and was in the hills just rain, will see what happens overnight, Storm last weekend was rain also no new snow to the campground 7500' same today.
So looks like the vote is go up , see if we can reach at least the Portal , some hint at going higher, I put a track in the old campground and should be able to kick in higher , a large group went up last week so that track should be in .
To get to the Portal you won't need any gear, spikes but not needed , If we have sun no wind it has been warm hiking , jacket when you stop. Poles always help but again not needed to the Portal.

Looks like the vote was for Pizza or one of the cafes in town since we don't know where we can reach depending on the snow/heat and post holing if it gets warm!! See everyone Saturday 10 30 am AT the Hostel then we will carpool up .

The Hero's hike registration just open a few minutes ago also May 19 is correct so will start WPSMB Team today , as every year I HOPE THEY HAVE SOLVED the log in problems for returning Teams ,May be use a fake name the first go around if you want to register more people later. Hey it could be just me that can't add more money at the end or add other people . Thanks

Here's the Cliffnotes version:

Friday afternoon: Climbing in the Hills

Friday PM: Dinner in town then be nuisances at the Hostel

Saturday AM: Meet at the Hostel in LP at 10:30 to carpool up the road. We will hike up to the Portal and beyond.

Saturday PM:
Meet back in town for group dinner (TBD)

Sunday AM: A hike and/or climbing, weather permitting. (Lots of options for half-day outings, TBD)

Some will be sleeping in the Hills Friday & Saturday nights and some will be sleeping in town.

Easy peasy.

Is it true that Doug is going to make us work around the store for free?

Jeff.....everything sounds great. I am happy that we can head up to the Portal. Should be fun.

Remember, this hike is open to everyone.

The more the merrier, for sure. Looks like we're going to have a great turnout. (It's probably safe to say that people should pop in to the hostel at 8:00am to see who's going to breakfast and where, if breakfast is your thing.)

Another successful day of being on the mountain with the gang of misfits. Thanks to everyone who was able to show up (and those that couldn't were definitely missed).

The next cavalcade will be the Climb for Heroes hike on Baldy on May 19th (register HERE). So come out and support a great cause---and feel free to throw snowballs at the slackers in the Whitney gang...

Special thanks to Trailbud,Doug, for giving me a ride on his
mighty Jeep for a first time in my life.
I only saw it on Youtube video. I have to win a lotto.

Everyone asked me about Richard P. so I added some photos from
Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing you and more people at Heroes Hike on Mt. Baldy.

P.S.
Jeef M., Thank you for getting me back on the board again.

Had a great time with everyone, hope to see most or all of you at the farewell gathering next month. Thanks Jeff for getting the ball rolling, Doug and Randy for the car shuttles, Mark for the great cookies (my only crack these days), everyone for the great conversations and stories and as always Doug T for all the hospitality he shares with all of us (especially that coffee) and thanks everyone for taking great photos and sharing them with everyone.
