We are exactly 45 days out.

Hoping that we can put the gang back together for this great cause?

For those unfamiliar this event raises money to benefit amputee veterans to train and ascend the highest peaks of the world.

Soon there will be a “retreat center” located in Ice House Canyon to specifically be a safe haven of training, hiking, climbing and mountaineering for these vets coming home from combat areas.

Google The Heroes Project for complete details.

Leave a message here if you want more information on getting involved?

Thanks

What? We are getting the band back together?

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Yes the hike is another gathering of the clan just like One flew over the cuckoo's nest.Instead of the fishing trip we are going to the mountain,so all plan on the day and let's make this 10 year the biggest turnout, sign on early so we can print the shirts with all the names ,we know some are hesitant of doing the summit but please come join for the day.
Great cause you can see by the amazing diverse group that show up every year to support the young men and women that have paid a great price for protecting our country.
Please sign up and hope to see you on Baldy Veterans day.

The Heroes site says you may load pictures on your landing page. On the WPSMB team I don't see a way to do that.
Any help Patrick ?

Here's the basic way to sign up now that Doug Has registered the Cuckoos Nest (WPSMB Group).
Go to the Climb for Heroes spot on the Hike for Heroes Website.
https://theheroesproject.org/climbforheroes

That'll have a button in the middle of the page that says "Registration CFH 2023" a bright RED Button, click that.

Once in the next page at the top right it'll have another button also in red "Sign Up" click that.

https://p2p.charityengine.net/2023thp

https://p2p.charityengine.net/2023thp/Register/Activity/

Then the next page will say (third choice down) "Join or Support A Team" click inside the little "DOT" and hit next. Go down and find Doug's Team (WPSMB) it's not spelled out just the initials.

Click on WPSMB.

Set up an account - follow the prompts it's easier this year than past years.

Enter your contact information - it's easy.

Pay, you are all set.

Thanks

Update registration ends tonight at 9 PM for the Heroes hike , shirts are at the printer now waiting to place the names of those that are signed in , will wait till after the closing to add any final names .
Weather looks good for the day warm on the lower elevation but uppper 30's on the summit of Baldy , so layers for those planning hiking to the summit .
I will get to the parking lot early and hand out the shirts , Patrick has offered to support the printing so a big thanks for the shirts , Looks like we stand at # 4 for fund raising , another great showing for the wpsmb crew!!!! Will be good day reconnecting with many from the past years.
Many might not know the effort JJ puts into these events so if you see her give her a very heart felt Thank You , Tim without saying is a Hero for seeing the need of these young nem and women and doing something to make the transition back into the mainstream .

Update I just got an email that team wpsmb can pickup the bibs at the VIP table, not that we are special but most often we are a headache as we don't always use the same names we sign in with or we are just ...

So I will be at the parking lot early and hand out the t shirts , we can go as a group or one at a time JJ says she will hold a folder of the the group so we can do it either way See you Saturday

The hike and the day was a success.

Many a laugh was had at the expense of each other.

Thanks to Doug, Ed, Bob, Mike, Dave, Connie and myself for participating.

Thanks to Jeff (Yeti) for volunteering to wear the Yeti suit at Camp #3 and Todd and Jeff to carry up gear to the summit on Friday.

I need to get physical addresses for the following people:

Douglas Forbes

Jesse Dyer

James Flanagan

Bop Huey

Jack and Betsy

Cayden Thompson (not sure if this is Doug's granddaughter or daughter-in-law)

Tom Whitte

And I also need shirt sizes with those addresses.

Some of you I'm friends with on FB so I've sent messages to you there.

If you don't want your address posted here, friend request me on FB at Patrick T. Moran and/or just send a message there. Or send me an email at
pmoran1fsl at Gmail dot Com

And super thank you to all that donated to this amazing cause. Hopefully by this time next year, the construction of the new "Retreat for wounded Vets" will be nearing completion in Ice House Canyon, they are breaking ground as soon as weather permits in the spring.

God Bless one and all.

The last of the Tee Shirts went out to those that donated to Team WPSMB, yesterday.

Thanks again for your donations.

If you didn't get one and you did make a donation let me know I'll get one to you.

See everyone at next years event.
