I was at the Portal over Memorial Day week-end and wanted to purchase a $50 bear can.

Since they had just opened not long before that, all supplies had not yet been received but they told me that I could order a cannister from them online.

The Online Store link is closed, so I was thinking of maybe calling in and having one shipped from there. Couple of questions: 1) Are the cannisters in the store yet, and 2) is there any way that we can order them online?

Doug - as first timer to The Portal and Whitney, I don't want to be caught without and so, mid-week, is there generally any problem renting a cannister from your store? Permited Wed - Fri in third week of July. What are the approximate internal dimensions of the cannister you provide? One more thing, how do the showers work at the store? coin operated? pay at the counter? how many are there? M & F or just private stalls? thanks for the info.

I picked up a bear canister this weekend w/o an advance reservation. They had a huge pile of them in the store. The cost was $2/day. They rent the Garcia Bear-Resistant Container, REI item #624081.

There is just 1 shower at the store. The cost is $3.00 at the counter. I didn't use it, just asked about it, so I can't tell you how clean it was or anything like that.
