Anyone know how much weight these are? Empty that is. Just trying to keep my day pack under a certain weight heading up MMWT next week.

Inconsequential, really. I mean (as I recall) there are two bags with powder chemicals in each pack, and it's no heavier or bulkier than would be a couple of unpopped bags of microwave popcorn, and about that size too. I guessing twelve ounces or less.

I weighted one I purshased at REI and got 2.8 oz. It was the same WAG bag that is used on Whitney.

Are you the same Jeff Johnson that worked at EG&G? I know there must be many Jeff Johnsons, but if you are, Thom and I hiked Whitney two years ago and I also hiked it three years ago, both times in August. It was awesome!

OK..OK..OK...the first 3 answered my question, the rest were entertaining.

I have done Whitney a few times, but before the wagbags.

One of my trips was done with and one trip without the wagbags and I didn't discern any noticeable difference . They were both one day trips.

This years empty model is 4 oz. This includes the outside packaging, the "main event" bag, the zip-lock bag, TP, and disinfectant wipes. You could rid of any repeat personal items.
But why don't you just filter water more often and carry less of that??
My two girlfriends and I just finished summitting, hauling 45-50lbs packs for a week from Cottonwood Lakes. What's a couple ounces?
