Not many blue collar hikers it seems. I work for a diesel engine distributor during the day and I'm a petroleum transfer tech. at night. Total hours-70 hours weekly. Weekends, always hiking, either in the mountains or desert hiking. Friends wonder how I do it, "If you don't run, you rust."

22 years crunching numbers in a small business as CFO. Usually make time to cruise the Mountaineer's Route once or twice a year looking for Mr Rockwell! Recently promoted to President and was requested to obtain private pilot license in order to make regular flights to Sacramento in small company owned plane. Looking forward to more frequent visits to the mountain via the Lone Pine airport. The killer is going from sea level to Ice Berg in such a short period.

Work for CPA in Carpinteria, CA, but live in Ventura. Not a lot of time off, but close enough to the mountains for regular weekend visits. Also a staff member for WTC and most recently just started training for the Ski Patrol at Mt Pinos!

I guess I should answer my own question. I'm a financial analyst/accountant with a car maker...more accountant than analyst. More specifically, my company was formed to exclusively handle all the IT needs of two international car makers and their finance company. My boss is kind enough to let me have some play time this summer so that I can climb Mt.Shasta in June and Mt.Whitney via MR in August.

I have my real estate license and I'm going to take the brokers exam sometime this year. My ultimate goal is to get into real estate development. But I've found that climbing the Mountaineering Route is a piece of cake compared to getting into the real estate development field. crazy

I work six days a week as a machinist. Sunday is just for hiking with or without the fam. My 23 year old son Mike usually tries to pull me up an eastern sierra peak, but most of the time I only make it to the high passes and leave him to do the summits.
