Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board North Lake (Bishop) conditions?

Does anyone have info on North Lake? Is the road accessible between Aspendell and the campsites? Is the campsite snowed-in?

I was up there over Memorial Day weekend. We did some day hikes out of South Lake, but drove up to North Lake once. The Road is open and there are multiple campgrounds open. We camped at Forks, right where you turn off to go to South Lake, about 8k I think, it was snow free except for what snow came down over the weekend. That snow melted off pretty quickly. Expect 90+% snow cover above 10k and 100% above 11k.
