Hello - A party of three of us have a two day permit for this weekend. We plan on camping at Whitney portal this Friday and Saturday night leaving Sunday and summiting Monday and returning Mon night. I plan on going as light as possibe. I have a camel bak trail blazer with a 70 oz water bladder emergency supplies and food. I also have a fanny pack with two 18 oz water bottles and storage for other stuff. Inside my pack I have a one man tent.
The question I have is could I get away without carrying a sleeping bag. Just a sleeping pad to put underneath me and climbing into a bivy inside my tent ? If not, I will have to rent a larger backpack at REI. How cold at night does it get at trailcamp ?

Check the NOAA weather links on the "Weather Links" page above on the left. Looks to me like it will be somewhere between 38 to 42 at Trail Camp Sunday night.
