What a healthy good looking group of hikers.I also am amazed at how healthy looking people who love the outdoors are. Quite a bit different from those sedentary, sit on their arse, types.

You almost stopped the rotor blades on the chopper and still got a clear, distinct image of the chopper body. That's why the chopper had to land. Kurt stopped the rotor blades.

And we look especially healthy for people who called in sick for the day.
This was my first message board group hike. It was outstanding getting to know you all. Kurt, your a prince of a guy for inviting us. Thanks again.

While the horses got fed yesterday morning at 6 I thought about all of you and what a gorgeous day it was going to be. Here in the IE it's not often we see the mountains except on a Santa Ana day and there was Cucamonga Peak (with Baldy behind it) at my back door practically calling to me. But with a loaded schedule of oral surgeries and an extra doc in the mix I couldn't call in sick. Had plans to attend the CM slide presentation since it was so close to my work (Irvine) but I didn't get off until 8 pm!
Would love to join a group hike sometime and I will keep checking the message board. (Unfortunately, I can't do Iron Mt)
I've been reading the message board for a long time (while planning our summit attempt of Whitney) and only recently started posting. I too am learning so much from all of you.
Great trip reports and photos!!

Great hike yesterday. Brisk at the trailhead and warm at the top. 16 nice folks basically hiked as one big group all the way to the top. Kurt's 6 AM start was great and got us back to the car about 1:30 PM. Thanks all!

What a great day with a great group of people who all seemed to have the same illness. Fortunately it is contagious! Thank you Kurt for a great day! I will post my pics this weekend. Gary

Can't have too many bighorn pictures. But I may need to break down and get a digital SLR and start schlepping it on hikes.

Which reminds me...
A new era is about to begin...
I just blew a bunch on money on the 50D (and accessories)(Too much already invested in Canon to go with the D300.) and the Moose is getting a hand-me-down. (No, not free. I don't like her THAT much.)

Our youngest son had a Canon 1D Mk 11, bought about 5 yrs ago that he shot for motorcycle racing mags, what an amazing camera. Alas, they moved to southern Mo 2+yrs ago to an 80 acre horse ranch and no more motorcycle racing. So he sold his largest telephoto lens and bought a Ueep with the proceeds. Didn't lose any money on the lens sale, what a deal. Still waiting for Kurt to tell me which camera he uses..............steve P.s. Alan, the openings now for comedians are few and far between..........

P.s. Alan, the openings now for comedians are few and far between.......... No worries -- I think I'll be stickin' with the day job. Still, 1200 mm, f/5.6. Would've been fun to show to the ultralight fanatics. one might need a burro to lug the thing around.

Still waiting for Kurt to tell me which camera he uses... Well, he mentioned a Nikon D200 in his recent Everest slideshow, and told the nice gentleman on top of Baldy who used it (and 6 or 7 other cameras, what a trooper!) to take our group shot that it'd been to the top of Everest...and it obviously accepted my 300mm Nikon lense, so I'm going with the D200. But you don't need to spend that kind of money to stop rotor blades...even a Sony 3.1 Megapixel Cybershot will do the trick...if there's enough light for a fast shutter speed.

KURT, Sure would like to know what camera you were using. You almost stopped the rotor blades on the chopper and still got a clear, distinct image of the chopper body.............steve I use a Nikon D200. I'd love to get a D300 or the new D700 but that doesn't look to be happening for a while. The D200 is a great camera though. I normally use an 18-70mm Nikon lens. For telephoto shots I have a Nikon 80-400mm VR. I didn't have it with me on this hike but for the bighorn shots I borrowed Noel's 70-300 VF he had with him. Thanks again everybody for a very memorable hike. I shall look forward to the next one!!
