OK done deal. Let's plan on a Baldy climb for Friday February 6. We'll do the normal 6 am start time since I'll be in the area doing slideshows in the evenings and will need to get back for the presentation in West LA that night.
Assuming we get more storms between now and then plan for a day in the snow. Some of us will be on skis and others will be booting it up (or snowshoeing if conditions warrant them). We always have a great group of people who manage to play hooky from work for a day.
More details to follow as the time gets closer.

Not much snow up on Baldy, I had friend go up the Register Route this past weekend and they said they did not stap on the crampons until they reached the trail at Harwood.

Why do you think I 'boinged' this back to the top???  If Len is there, I'm SO there. Of course, there's the issue of getting the day off, and digging out from under the avalanche of patients I'm dealing with right now. I think everyone in the OV fell during the time of snow and ice up here... sheesh... Which does include someone slipping in the parking lot last weekend... hmmm...  I'll let you guys know if I can sneak away...

I'm not going to complain too loudly if there isn't enough snow to ski. That means the skis and boots (probably 15 pounds) stay off of my back! It'll still be loads of fun as long as hurricane winds aren't blowing.
Something must have been in the air last weekend... I also slipped, and although I didn't hit the ground (read that as wild gyrations to stay upright), I do think I gave myself a case of whiplash, as the neck and shoulder are still a little stiff. The right ankle twist is no longer an issue, so I can walk fine as long as I keep my head straight.

Guys it's been warm down here. We went up in the bowl last week and allot of the snow in the bowl was gone last Saturday. We're going again Sunday I'll take a picture and post it on this thread. I think I'm going to be sick on the 6th.....

Torrance store = GONE
Went by today for my new gear fix. Closed. Bummer.
But, if Kurt still wants to present in Torrance, you all can come to my house for a burger and a beer.

Yes the Torrance store closed. I'll be at the West LA store on Friday the 6th after our Baldy hike though.

bad location for torrance store tucked in corner. wish they would take over circuit city, or mervyns store better location from street. will do baldy that friday(new year of sick time) with the group then to west LA store....mark

Thats too bad about the Torrance store. When I went in there it was never very crowded. Plus it must have been hard to compete with the REI in Manhattan Beach.
